THREE
LITTLE WORDS
READ:
Isaiah 43:1-7
“So
do not fear, for I am with you, do not be dismayed,
for I am your God.” Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)
Most people feel that the
most beautiful words ever spoken are, “I love you”; but a close second are
these: “I’ll be there.” In the everyday
problems of life, we surely want to hear them from the plumber when the sink is
clogged and/or the sewer has backed up or from the service station mechanic
when our auto refuses to start. Living
in an area of the country where “manana” is a
frequent response, it is not only reassuring to hear a commitment but also to
be able to trust that it will be translated into reality. Everyday we face situations in which we
cannot bear to be alone. We want to hear
the words; “I’ll be there” from our friend in our hour of need.
Although
the serviceman might break the appointment or unexpected events will delay or
cancel our friend’s visit, we can have confidence that we will not be left
alone. We have His promise, “Never will
I leave you, and never will I forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5) The problems may seem hopeless and the
shadows may loom large, but we have His pledge that He will be there, all we
need to do is ask! We do not have to go
it alone; God will be there without fail.
